George H. Mackenzie

<p> A top ten world chess player, George H. Mackenzie (1837-1891) dominated in the U.S. for more than a quarter century. Scottish by birth, Mackenzie was adopted by American chess players as their representative on the national and international scenes and was beloved as an entertainer wherever he toured. Despite his overwhelming record and global renown, no full-length biography or comprehensive collection of his games has appeared until now.
