The book emphasizes applied aspects-abatement of pollution, applications in agriculture, bioactive metabolites, bioremediation, biosurfactants, health-promoting bioactive compounds, human nutrition, hydrophobins, and pigments. It comprises chapters from authors from different countries, divided into four subdivisions: 1) Agricultural and Nutraceutical-focuses on the application of marine fungi in agriculture, aquaculture, and human nutrition Applications; 2) Industrial Applications-discusses industrial-scale production of pigments and their applications; production and applications of hydrophobins and biosurfactants; lichens and their applications; and the significance of fungi from the Arctic and Antarctic; 3) Bioremediation-addresses advances in bioremediation of oil spills, the remediation of hydrocarbons, heavy metals, and the reduction of textile dyes; 4) Future Directions-future directions, discusses the significance of deep-sea fungi, geomycology, and synthetic biology.
